Land Day is an annual commemoration of the events of March 30, 1976, when Palestinian citizens of Israel took to the streets to protest rapid land expropriations and state-led projects of judaicization of Arab-majority areas, especially in the Galilee. In the ensuing clashes, Israeli police shot and killed six protesters, injured over a hundred and arrested hundreds more. Over the years, Land Day has become a significant day of commemoration not just among the Palestinian citizens of Israel, but also in the West Bank, Gaza and the diasporas.
