Scores of Jaffa-based activists demonstrated in the city's historical Clock Tower Square calling for the release of Walid Daqqa, a Palestinian political prisoner serving a life sentence in Israeli prison. Daqqa was convicted of participating in resistance operation that targeted an Israeli soldier, and has been jailed since 1986. Recently, Palestinian MK Bassel Ghattas was accused of trying to smuggle a cell phone to Daqqa, who, like all Palestinian political prisoners, are forbidden from using telephones. In retaliation, the Israeli prison Services transferred Daqqa from Ketziot prison to solitary confinement in Ramon prison. Protesters demanded his release from solitary confinement and his release from prison after more than three decades. Although a few Israeli fascists attempted to threaten demonstrators and disrupt the event, the protest concluded without incident.

Jaffa based activists gathered at the city's historical clock tower square to protest the interception of the Women's Boat to Gaza. The Zaytouna-Oliva left Barcelona with female activists from all over the world intending to break the decade long blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip by Israel. The Israeli navy stopped the Zaytouna on Wednesday evening, detaining the women on board and rerouting them to the port of Ashdod. In the meantime, Israel launched air strikes against the Gaza Strip. Among the protesters in Jaffa was Yehudit Ilani, who sailed on the Zaytouna in the first leg of the journey, from Barcelona to Italy. The protesters called for the immediate release of the women on board the Zaytouna and to lift the ongoing Israeli siege of Gaza.

About 100 people participated in a demonstration at the historic clock tower square in Jaffa, callng for the release of Darin Tatur. Tatur, a Palestinian woman from the Galilee, was arrested last October for a poem she wrote, "rise, my people, rise." After months in jail, the court agreed to release her to house arrest until the end of legal proceedings. As her trial for "incitement" is still ongoing, Tatur remains under house arrest. Tatur's arrest and trial are part of a broader trend of increased state surveillance of Palestinians and countless indictments for "incitement" over social media.
The Jaffa demonstration was organized by local activists, and Tatur's father and uncle were also in attendance. Israeli Jewish passers by hurled racist insults at protesters.

Activists in Jaffa held their vigil in the local "garden of the Gazans" at the heart of Ajami, demonstrating solidarity with the besieged and terrorized refugees in al-Yarmouk camp.
