About 50 Palestinian and Israeli-Jewish allies staged a vigil on Friday evening in Jaffa’s historic clock tower square. Demonstrated protested the ongoing killing of Palestinian demonstrators in the Friday Great Return March that have been ongoing for a month. The Great Return March is a grassroots-organized weekly demonstration against the decade-long siege of the Gaza Strip by Israel. It also highlights the right of return of Palestinian refugees, expelled from their villages and towns in 1948. So far,the Israeli army has killed at least 43 demonstrators, wounding thousands, some of those remain in critical condition, as Israel refuses to allow them access to medical care in the West Bank. Among the casualties are two journalists, Yasser Murtaja and Ahmed Abu Hussein, both fatally shot by the Israeli army despite the fact they wore protective vests clearly marked “press.”
