Jaffa-based activists welcome Samer al-‘Issawi, the former political prisoner and hunger striker, recently released from Israeli prison. ‘Issawi was received at the city’s historic clock tower square, where activists staged daily vigils calling for his release over an extended period of time. He was then taken on a walking tour of the city, as local activists explained the current housing crisis and the judaicization projects taking place. The tour ended with a gathering and a communal meal.
