About 50 protesters gathered on Tuesday evening in Jaffa’s historic Clock Tower Square to stand in solidarity with the people in besieged Gaza. They staged this vigil a day after the Israeli military gunned down unarmed protesters in Gaza, who were participating in the Great Return March, commemorating 70 years to the Nakba, or the forced displacement of Palestinians. The Jaffa protesters also staged their vigil as death toll surpassed 60, including a an infant, who suffocated from noxious gas, and a few minors, while thousands sustained injuries, many from live bullets fired by Israeli snipers. Protesters in Jaffa condemned the still-unfolding massacre, and called for the lifting of the decade-long siege of Gaza, which has made the Strip almost completely inhabitable.
