Residents of Nabi Saleh staged a protest coinciding with the vote to expel Israel at the FIFA congress in Switzerland. The village’s children, dressed in uniforms of their favourite football teams, holding red cards and placards, called upon FIFA to ban Israel until it complies with international law. The children also staged a mock football game and some even walked up to the soldiers, defiantly holding red cards to their faces. The IDF attempted to disperse the protest using tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets. No major injuries reported. In the last minute, the Palestinian Authority delegates pulled their previous demand to ban Israel, and no vote was held on the matter.
