For the first time, hundreds gathered in Tel Aviv to protest the ongoing exploitation of women in the sex industry, and especially in prostitution. Protesters assembled in Hayarkon street, in front of a building that houses a brothel (dubbed “discrete apartment”), where J, a prostitute who was employed there, committed suicide several days ago. Protesters called for an end to brothels, calling their “clientele” rapists for taking advantage of vulnerable women like J and many others. Demonstrators also briefly blocked the street to traffic and one protester was arrested by police.
