Activists in Yafa celebrated the recent deal with Samer ‘Issawi who ended his record breaking hunger strike, which lasted more than 270 days. ‘Issawi agreed to an eight-month prison sentence, after which he will be released to his Jerusalem home.
The Yafa-based activists vow to continue their weekly vigil in solidarity with Palestinian political prisoners, as currently there are about 4800 Palestinians in Israeli jails, about 170 of them are administrative detainees, held without trial or charges.
