Hundreds of protesters heeded the call by the popular committees and gathered outside the Ofer military prison near the town of Betunia in the outskirts of Ramallah. After the noon prayer, protesters marched towards the fences of the military prison, in solidarity with the hunger striking political prisoners (including two, Samer ‘Issawi and Ayman Sharawneh, who have been on a hunger strike over 200 days). The Israeli soldiers attacked protesters with barrages of tear gas, rubber coated steel bullets and live ammunition. Four journalists and at least a hundred protesters were injured from the rubber and live bullets, several were taken to hospital for medical treatment.
