Darin Tatur’s father also participated in the demonstration calling for the release of his daughter
About 100 people participated in a demonstration at the historic clock tower square in Jaffa, callng for the release of Darin Tatur. Tatur, a Palestinian woman from the Galilee, was arrested last October for a poem she wrote, “rise, my people, rise.” After months in jail, the court agreed to release her to house arrest until the end of legal proceedings. As her trial for “incitement” is still ongoing, Tatur remains under house arrest. Tatur’s arrest and trial are part of a broader trend of increased state surveillance of Palestinians and countless indictments for “incitement” over social media.
The Jaffa demonstration was organized by local activists, and Tatur’s father and uncle were also in attendance. Israeli Jewish passers by hurled racist insults at protesters.
