Palestinian and Israeli activists protested at the entrance to Shu’fat refugee camp in occupied Jerusalem against the municipality’s continuous neglect and failure to collect and dispose of the camp’s garbage. The municipal authorities have systematically been allocating a fraction of the funds earmarked for maintenance in comparison with the city’s Jewish western neighbourhoods. As the garbage piles up in the camp, it poses severe health hazard, especially in light of the exceptional rate of crowdedness in the camp.
