On June 5, 2012 Palestinians gathered at the Damascus gate in east Jerusalem to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Naksa day. This day, which is also known as the day of the setback, mark the Israeli occupation of Gaza strip, the west bank, Al-Quds (east Jerusalem) as well as the Sinai peninsula and the Golan heights following the six day war defeat in 1967.
This peaceful protest, which was meant to mark and remember the ongoing tragedy of oppression and occupation was violently suppressed and put down by the Israeli mounted police. The security forces used massive force as they started to shove, beat and arrest everyone that stood in their way and tried to rise up against the israeli cruel policy of oppression.
** Similar demonstrations were also held in Hebron and Ramallah.
