Activists in Tel Aviv attempted to stage a demonstration against the ongoing massacre in the Gaza strip at the city centre. Israeli police attempted to disperse them using brute force, including horse mounted policemen, claiming it was an ‘illegal gathering.’ When the protesters insisted on their democratic right to assemble, police began to arrest several people. Overall 17 were arrested, out of whom 5 spent the night in jail. Protesters then proceeded to march through the city’s streets, chanting anti-war slogans, as well as ‘Jews and Arabs refuse to be enemies,’ and ‘we will not kill or die in the service of racism.
