Tens of thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv’ Rabin Square to celebrate the recent victory of the Israeli representative to the Eurovision song contest. The celebration coincided with a deadly day of protests in the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli military gunned down at least 58 Palestinians, injuring thousands. A group of 20 female activists staged a protest across the street from the celebration. The activists called for an end to shooting protesters and for lifting the decade long siege on the Gaza Strip. The activists were accosted and verbally abused by a few of the revellers, who told them to “move to Gaza.” MK Oren Hazan also joined the abusers, calling the dead protesters “terrorists.”
