About a hundred activists, Palestinian and Israeli-Jews, staged a protest today in Yafa’s historical clock tower square in solidarity with the political prisoners in Israeli jails. Samer ‘Issawi, a former political prisoner and hunger striker, and brother of Shireen ‘Issawi, a lawyer who is currently in prison, joined the demonstration. The Yafa activists staged numerous protests last year, while he was on hunger strike, calling for his release. Demonstrators also briefly blocked the road near the square, bringing traffic to a halt.
