Over 1000 people, locals and activists from other parts of the country, gathered near the Bedouin town of Hura, in the Naqab / Negev to protest the Prawer plan. The demonstration in Hura, planned as the main event of the third “Day of Rage,” was spirited but peaceful, until, as many eye witnesses say, undercover policemen began to throw stones at the riot and horse-mounted police, who retaliated by charging into the crowds and provoking them. As the situation escalated, some youths began to hurl stones at the fully armed policemen, while the latter fired barrages of tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets, and brutally arrested 29 people, including a 10 year old child who was dragged on the ground before taken away in a squad car. Many of those arrested were also severely beaten up, and needed medical attention. Large forces besieged Hura, and remained in the area throughout the night.
